Alan W. Beard

A native of Christian County, Alan is a graduate of Christian County High School and is a John A. Gupton College of Mortuary Science alumnus.  Since 1969 Alan has been licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a Funeral Director and Embalmer.

Married to Connie since 1972, they are the parents of Anna and the proud grandparents of two Granddaughters, Morgan and Dade. 

With a career spanning over 50 years and a dedication to the Christian County community; in 1976 Alan was the owner of Beard Funeral Home located in Crofton, Kentucky.  In 1985 he became the Partner and Vice President of Hughart & Beard Funeral Homes, Inc. of Hopkinsville and Crofton, becoming the Owner and President in 1990 through today.

Active with the First Christian Church of Hopkinsville as a Member and Elder, he served as the Chairman of the Board in 1995 and as Chairman of the Trustees in 1999.

Alan has served the Christian County Community in many different aspects.  From 1974 - 1977 he was the Deputy Coroner of Christian County and from 1978 - 1985 he served as the Coroner.  He is a member of the Hopkinsville Masonic Lodge, L.M. Cox Masonic Lodge, Oriental Chapter, Warren Council, Moore Commandry, York Rite College, Rizpah Shrine Temple, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Carrie Hart Chapter, O.E.S. and the B.P.O. Elks.  In addition, he is a member of the Hopkinsville Rotary Club, served as the Chairman of the Hopkinsville-Christian County United Way Fund Drive in 1996, served as a member on the United Way Board of Directors from 2000 - 2005, as the Chairman of the Board in 2002 and was a Member of the Hopkinsville Community College Foundation Board of Directors from 2000 - 2006.

Professional Associations include being a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and serving on their Policy Board in 1993.  A member of the Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky including holding the position of President in 1992.  Locally, Alan served for several years on the old First City Bank Board of Directors and continued to serve on the BB&T Advisory Board following its acquisition of the bank until 2013.  He was a member of the Board of Directors of Hopkinsville Electric Service in 2000 and again from 2001-2006.  He was also a member of Jennie Stuart Medical Center Board of Trustees from 2003 through 2011 where he served as Chairman in 2011.

Scott was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and grew up in Webster County, Kentucky. He is a 1986 graduate of Webster County High School. He continued his education and graduated in 1989 from Mid-America College of Funeral Service. He has been a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer for 30 years. Scott has been with Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home since 1989. He is a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Scott has two children, a son Taylor and daughter Avery. In his spare time, he enjoys camping and playing golf.

Travis Austin

Travis is a 16-year U.S. Army Veteran.  He served first as a Combat Medic in the Infantry and then as a Mortuary Affairs Specialist with the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System.  Travis deployed multiple times to theaters of operation in support of the Global War on Terrorism.  He prides himself knowing that he was able to render dignity, honor and respect to his brothers and sisters in arms who made the ultimate sacrifice and serve their families at such a heartbreaking time.

Born and raised in Louisiana he is naturally drawn to a multiplicity of cultures through food, music, art and history.  He was drawn into a life of public service from watching rescue workers give tirelessly to total strangers showing him the meaning of “love thy neighbor”.  Travis decided to dedicate his life to being a part of something bigger than himself and serve others.

He graduated from John A. Gupton College in Nashville with a degree in Funeral Service Education in 2006 and has worked for a number of Funeral Homes in Tennessee, Virginia and Kentucky. He has a passion for serving families during some of the darkest days of life.  He is honored to be able to assist grieving families memorialize their loved ones. 

In his time away from work he enjoys riding motorcycles, tinkering, fishing, reading and helping coach his children's sport teams.  Travis is married to his wife Alex whom he met while in the Army and they have 2 Children.

He is a member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, The Masonic Lodge, The York Rite Bodies and a life member of the VFW.

Savanah Harris

Savanah is a native of Knoxville, TN and a graduate of Anderson County High in Clinton, TN.  After graduation she attended Roane State Community College where she majored in Emergency Medical Technology.  From there she began work in the Home Health Care field where she worked for 15 years. 

After her move to Hopkinsville Savanah joined the Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home staff in the area of administration and is a paramount part of the daily operations of the funeral home.   

In her time away from work she enjoys watching her husband race in the dirt track circuit and traveling.  She has one daughter and she is married to Zac Harris a native of Elkton, KY.

Dan Cayce

After being employed by Hopkinsville Milling Company for 43 years, Dan retired in January 2006. He and his wife Janice, are members of Concord Baptist Church and have been married for over 45 years. They are the parents of two children, Kelley Workman and Chris Cayce. They have four grandchildren, Spencer Workman, Preston Workman, Jordan Cayce and Sara Cayce.

Dan is the current president of the Christian - Trigg County Chapter of the League of Kentucky Sportsman, has been a part-time fishing guide on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes since 1977.

Dan joined the staff of Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in late August 2006. Dan assists with visitations and funerals. He will help in any way he can.

Michael, is retired from the car business after 29 years of service. He is married to Gail Thompson, formerly Gail Holt. They are the parents of Dawn, Shawn and Darren and two granddaughters, Sascha and Jolie, and one great-grandson. Michael belongs to Millbrooke Christian Church where he serves as an Elder.

Stan is retired from 27 years teaching at Hopkinsville High School and 5 years with the software company S.T.I. of Mobile Alabama.

Stan has 3 children, Sean, Jason, and Jennifer and they have 7 grandchildren.

Stan belongs to the Second Baptist Church in Hopkinsville.
