During this pandemic it has been good to see so many people supporting local businesses. You hear it on the radio, see people posting it on social media, and even see people shop local whether it be online or from behind glass.
So often when we think about local businesses we think about restaurants and boutiques, but there are numerous other local businesses that would appreciate your support such as banks, gas stations, supply stores, insurance companies, pharmacies, and even funeral homes.
In the late 80’s and early 90’s Wall Street decided it was time to be in the funeral business. In today’s society over 10% of the funeral homes are owned by corporations. Some of the major player in the funeral industry today include: Service Corporation International (SCI), StoneMor Partners, L.P. (STON), Carriage Services, Inc. (CSV), and Parklawn Corporation (PRRWF). If you do your research you will notice that three out of the four have corporate offices in Houston, Texas including Carriage Services which has locations in Hopkinsville, Pembroke, Elkton, and Clarksville.
So as you think about supporting local in all that you do remember your local funeral homes as well.
