A native of Louisville, KY she was born January 30, 1937 the daughter of the late Morris Tandy and Stella McGrath Tandy. Sheila was a 1954 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville, Kentucky, and went on to attend St. Anthony’s Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse in Louisville for Drs. Podol and Fowler. It was there where Sheila met her husband, Lyndon Scribner “Scrib” Goode, who was a medical student at the time. They were married for 59 years.

Her most cherished career was as a mother to her three children Joe, Chris and Elizabeth and all the other children welcomed into her home over many years. Sheila’s love for her children was completely unconditional and a marvel. She will be missed dearly. She was a wonderful southern cook and no one was turned away from her table. She collected cookbooks and loved trying new recipes all her life.

Sheila, along with her dearest friend, Barbara Kirkham started the Hopkinsville Humane Society. They held many fundraisers over the years and importantly found loving homes for hundreds of cats and dogs. She was a lover of classical music, crossword puzzles, animals, magazines, encyclopedias, great conversation, witty jokes and the Catholic faith.

Survivors include her husband: Lyndon Scribner “Scrib” Goode; her sons: Joe Goode of Hopkinsville, KY and Chris Goode of Hopkinsville, KY; her daughter: Elizabeth Goode Cobb of Louisville, KY; her sister: Brenda Tandy (Tom) Brown of Louisville, KY; her grandchildren: Adam Scribner “Scribby” Goode, Charles Cobb and Henry Cobb; her cousin: Stephen Bayers of Louisville, KY; her step grandchildren: Cody Moore and Kelsea Moore, six nieces and nephews and many dear women she loved as daughters including Jessie Dempsey and Libby Rutland
