Hector Bruno “Buzz” Langhi, 91, of Durham, North Carolina died at 7:10 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2019 at his residence.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Father Frank Ruff and Father Richard Meredith officiating. A native of Great Falls, Montana he was born August 21, 1928 the son of the late Hector Michael Langhi and Josephine Martinich Langhi. He loved his job working at his family business Mid Continent Spring Company for 38 years before retiring at the age of 89. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he joined directly out of high school from 1946 to 1948. He was trained as an Altitude Change Technician and a recipient of the WWII Victory Medal. He lived in Hopkinsville, KY since 1980 and was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church and St. Susan parishes.

He was a lifelong performer and started in theater following in his musically talented mother and father’s footsteps. He started performing quite young and continued well into his adult life often starring in lead roles for the Pennyrile Players Theater. The role he most enjoyed was Tevye in “Fiddler on the Roof”. While that role was important, it was his vocal performance every week in church singing and for a time leading the church choir that stayed with him until his last days with us. Music would often bring him to tears as this was his joy.

He was preceded in death by his wife Maureen in April of 2018. The duo could be found in the choir at church on Sunday. They complemented each other well in projects as he was also a skilled carpenter and enjoyed constructing and woodwork. He would cut the wood pieces and Maureen would paint them producing impressive works of art. He is also preceded in death by his brothers: Walter Langhi, Donald Langhi and Robert Langhi; his sister: Carolyn Langhi Krsul.

Survivors include his sons: John (Grace) Langhi of Huntersville, NC and Joseph (Tiffany) Langhi of Apex, NC; his daughters: Ellen Langhi of Durham, NC and Kathleen (Paul Santinelli) Langhi of Colusa, CA; his sister: Cecilia Dolinka of Peoria, IL; his granddaughter: Isabella Langhi and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church 902 E 9th St. Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
